U-Save International recently opened its newest U-Save Car & Truck Rental franchise location in the Faroe Islands.

The Faroe Islands are an archipelago of rugged, mountainous islands in the North Atlantic Ocean, centrally located among Iceland, Scotland (Shetland Islands), and Norway, forming an autonomous territory within the Kingdom of Denmark. The islands offer dramatic cliffs, fjords, and green hills, with a subpolar oceanic climate moderated by the Gulf Stream.

The Faroe Islands franchise has been acquired by local car rental entrepreneur Svend Aage Hojaard Ellefsen, who brings strong regional knowledge and industry experience to the U-Save brand.

The new operation will deliver U-Save’s rental services to residents and the growing number of visitors exploring the islands each year.

“This is a fantastic way to start 2026 and another step forward for our international growth,” said Richard Lowden, president of U-Save International, in a Jan. 7 news release. “Aage’s local expertise and passion for the car rental business make him an ideal franchise partner, and we look forward to supporting him and his team as they introduce U-Save to this unique and beautiful destination.”

The Faroe Islands franchise strengthens U-Save’s presence across Europe and reflects the brand’s partnerships with experienced local entrepreneurs who understand their markets and customers.

Established in the U.S. in 1979, U-Save has since expanded into 31 countries worldwide, following its acquisition by Green Motion in 2022.
