The Alamo franchise in Mexico has been recognized as a Socially Responsible Company by the Mexican Center for Philanthropy AC (CEMEFI) and the Alliance for Corporate Social Responsibility (AliaRSE), according to Enterprise Holdings.

“Alamo Mexico clearly takes a long-term view of its car rental business,” said Peter Smith, vice president of global franchising at Enterprise Holdings, which owns and operates the Alamo brand throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Latin America, Europe and Asia. “And they continue to focus on the kind of best practices that keep our global franchise network vibrant and responsive to internal as well as external issues. It’s so rewarding to see our longtime partner take such a leadership role.”

Alamo Mexico is the first car rental company in Mexico to be named a Socially Responsible Company (Empresa Socialmente Responsable, ESR). The recognition is given to companies that strive to make their operations economically, socially and environmentally sustainable.

“Corporate social responsibility is more than just a valuable business strategy,” said Juan Jose Arellano Hernandez, partner at Alamo Mexico. “It is actually part of our organization’s core values.”

The nomination process highlighted Alamo’s sustainability efforts, which included developing and executing internal initiatives to educate employees on how to maximize energy efficiency in day-to-day business transactions, as well as by sponsoring scholarships for employees to continue their education.

“We dedicate this recognition to our employees, who embody these socially responsible values each and every day,” said Hernandez.

Additionally, the award also recognized Alamo Mexico for its commitment to improving the community. When Hurricane Odile hit Mexico’s Baja Peninsula, employees across Alamo’s local branches came together to provide disaster relief.

The Alamo Mexico branches that received this award include Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Cozumel, Quintana Roo; Guadalajara, Jalisco; Leon, Guanajuato; Merida, Yucatan; Mexico City; Monterrey, Nuevo Leon; Oaxaca, Oaxaca; Toluca, Estado de Mexico; and the corporate office in Mazatlán.
