With Alamo Rent A Car’s second year of sponsorship for the Yucatan Lions professional baseball team, Mexican Baseball League fans will see new updates at the Kukulcan Alamo Park stadium in Merida, Mexico.

The stadium refurbishments, unveiled at opening day on April 3, are part of a plan to improve the in-game experience for both players and fans alike, according to Alamo.

Changes include a new playing field of top-tier Bermuda grass, new seats with cup holders in the stands, an improved main entrance with Alamo signage, and the grand opening of “Alamo Concourse” — a new dining, shopping, and entertainment area located near the stadium’s entrance.

In 2015, Alamo announced a new naming rights deal for the facility as part of the sponsorship agreement.

“The reaction from fans to our new stadium renovations has been overwhelmingly positive, but this is just the beginning,” said Juan Jose Arellano Hernandez, partner at Alamo Mexico. “Through our sponsorship agreement, we plan to gradually introduce more improvements over the next few years for the benefit of all Lions fans.”

In addition to the enhanced facilities, Alamo is also partnering with the Yucatan State government to launch its new “Drive Safe and Drive Happy” (Maneja Seguro y Conduce Feliz) campaign — an initiative that aims to increase awareness of the dangers of drunk driving.

Alamo is also kicking off its second year of sponsorship for the Náuticos basketball team in Mazatlán, Mexico. As a sponsor, Alamo’s logo is featured on the team’s uniforms and on LED signs throughout the stadium, according to the company.

“Our partnerships with the Yucatan Lions and the Mazatlán Náuticos help deepen our connection to our customers’ passions,” said Rob Connors, vice president of brand marketing for Alamo Rent A Car. “Whether on the court, on the field or on the road, we love being a part of our customers’ memorable moments.”
