Enterprise CarShare has halted its carsharing operations in Chicago, according to a report by the Chicago Tribune.
Enterprise will no longer offer reservations and has canceled all existing reservations for the service that allowed customers to rent vehicles by the hour in locations throughout the city.
In an email to its Enterprise CarShare customers, Enterprise said it would end the service due to significant vandalism, theft, and fraud, according to the report. About 40% of its fleet was affected by these issues and it caused a lack of available vehicles.
CarShare customers are encouraged to visit traditional Enterprise Rent-A-Car branches to fulfill their transportation needs. These ental locations will be offering discounts to CarShare members, according to the report.
Enterprise has not said whether it plans to shut down the CarShare operations permanently, says the report.
