Uber announced that it will launch a peer-to-peer car rental service with startup Getaround in San Francisco.
Drivers with Getaround can set a rental period for their vehicles, from as short as an hour to as long as several days. The announcement is part of a move for Uber to expand into alternative transportation models.
The ridesharing company also announced a partnership with Masabi, a mobile ticketing startup for users booking public transit rides, and an acquisition of Jump Bikes, which provides electric bikesharing.
