As the United States commemorates Veterans Day, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is showing its support of the military through its focus on three key areas — recruitment and hiring, local operations, and community relations — reaffirming its ongoing commitment to our nation’s armed forces.

Enterprise’s commitment to the military goes back six decades. The company is named after the USS Enterprise, one of the aircraft carriers founder Jack Taylor served on as a U.S. Navy pilot during World War II. The company continues to honor its military heritage by providing opportunities to the men and women who have served our country.

Keys to Progress

For the sixth consecutive year, Enterprise Rent-A-Car partnered with Progressive Insurance and a number of other organizations, including the National Auto Body Council, for the annual Keys to Progress program. Since its inception in 2013, the program has donated more than 600 vehicles to veterans and their families.

This year’s event took place on Nov. 8 at more than 60 locations across the country and provided newly refurbished vehicles to more than 100 veterans. Just as it has the past five years, Enterprise Rent-A-Car provided six months of automobile insurance to the recipient of each donated vehicle.

At the Keys to Progress event in St. Louis, Enterprise’s Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Christine Taylor helped honor Lisa Harrison, an Army veteran who served one tour in Iraq.

“When my grandfather founded Enterprise, he brought with him the values he learned in the Navy,” Taylor said in a statement. “His legacy now lives on in our business, and we strive each day to honor it. Our continued support of Keys to Progress is just one more way for us to thank our nation’s heroes and their families for their service.”

3M Hire Our Heroes

Last month, during the 2018 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show, Enterprise Rent-A-Car participated in the 3M Hire Our Heroes 500 charity stock car race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In addition to Enterprise, representatives from top multi-shop owners, independent collision repair companies, and industry partners competed for bragging rights as the fastest collision repair professional in the industry.

The event benefitted the 3M Hire Our Heroes scholarship program and the Collision Education Repair Foundation, which helps veterans and their families join the auto body collision repair industry. Since 2013, Hire Our Heroes has raised more than $1.2 million in tool grants and scholarships.

Military Support and Hiring

Enterprise Holdings, which owns the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand, was recently awarded multiple contracts to provide vehicle rental services at U.S. military installations through the United States Marines Corps, Army & Air Force Exchange Service, and Navy Exchange Service Command. The new contracts provide active and retired military members and their families on-base access to affordable, reliable transportation options to meet a variety of travel needs.

In fact, military veterans and members of the National Guard and Reserves currently make up more than 10 percent of Enterprise Holdings’ total U.S. workforce, including those at the more than 50 U.S. military installations the company serves. In addition, as a member of the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, Enterprise employs more than 1,300 military spouses.

Enterprise also has been honored for its ongoing support of the nation’s military, including recognition as a Military Friendly Employer and Military Spouse Friendly Employer from the publisher of G.I. Jobs, for its recruitment and retention efforts.

Fisher House Foundation

Since 2013, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation — the philanthropic arm of Enterprise Rent-A-Car — has committed over $6 million to the Fisher House Foundation. The nonprofit organization provides no-cost lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers.

Each year, as part of a $1 million annual pledge to Fisher House through 2020, $750,000 is designated for the Heroes’ Legacy Scholarship program. This effort supports dependent unmarried children, under age 23, of not only those who have fallen in battle, but also those who have died or become disabled through their active military service since Sept. 11, 2001. The remaining $250,000 will go to build homes on the grounds of major military and Veterans Affairs medical centers.

Enterprise Car Sales Promotion

For the fourth consecutive year, Enterprise Car Sales, a service of Enterprise Rent-A-Car, is offering active U.S. military members, veterans and dependents a prepaid maintenance package with their purchase of a used vehicle throughout the month of November. The offer — valued at $300 — is valid in all states except California and Oregon and is redeemable at any Firestone Complete Auto Care, Tires Plus, and Hibdon Tires Plus location.
