A Call to Action For H.R. 2453
ACRA is taking the excise tax fight national.
ACRA, along with a coalition of consumer organizations, travel associations and car rental companies recently announced that they support H.R. 2453 and are now asking for the support of others.
Introduced on May 24 by U.S. Representatives Rick Boucher (D-Virginia) and Chris Cannon (R-Utah), H.R. 2453 would prohibit future state or local discriminatory excise taxes on car rental consumers.
The bill, if passed, will stop new special-purpose rental taxes and surcharges going forward, but it is not retroactive. Almost 105 separate car rental taxes will remain, which will continue to drive up the cost of the car rental transaction. ACRC is asking anyone involved with the car rental and leasing industries to call or write their local congressman in support of H.R. 2453.
Please see below for a link to finding the names and contact information for your elected officials who need to hear from you, asking them to support H.R. 2453.
