Advantage Names Plamondon Acting President, CEO
Plamondon brings over 25 year of experience in the daily rental car industry.
Advantage Rent-A-Car of San Antonio, Texas announced today that its Board of Directors has named William N. Plamondon III as Acting President and Chief Executive Officer replacing George Gremse who joined the company in March.
Mr. Plamondon has been assisting Advantage in its franchise initiative to expand the areas served by the company. Most recently, Mr. Plamondon was Chief Restructuring Officer of Alamo/National until its sale to a private investment group in 2003. Previously for approximately twenty years, Mr. Plamondon served in various management positions with Budget Rent-A-Car, including President and Chief Executive Officer for the last five years of his tenure and was in charge of Budget’s franchise operations.
Board spokesperson, Bruce Parker said that “Bill brings over 25 years of experience in the daily rental car industry and the Board looks forward to working with Bill to capitalizing on his expertise as Advantage begins its franchising initiative to expand operations.” George Gremse, former President and CEO of Advantage, has left the company to return to Florida to be closer to his family and resume his consulting and investment practice.
Advantage spokesman, Michael Wilson, stated that Advantage Rent-A-Car was acquired by a private investment group in February 2006. The private investment group provided additional capital to enable Advantage to offer a new fleet of 2006 model year DaimlerChrysler and GM vehicles to its customers, to expand the Advantage operations, including the introduction of Advantage in Hawaii later this year and the initiation of franchise operations in new markets, and to rebrand and reposition the Advantage concept.
Advantage Rent-A-Car operates 100 daily rental locations in the continental United States and has 32 international affiliates serving 130 international locations.
