AllCar Rent-A-Car in NY Launches Summer Job Program for Local College Students

AllCar Rent-A-Car, a New York independent car rental company, is launching  a Summer Street Marketing Team consisting entirely of local college students, according to a June 21 company press release.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, only 3 out of every 10 students held a full- or part-time job in July of 2011, and according to Gil Cygler, president of AllCar Rent-A-Car, it is this statistic that led to the launch of the program. "The young adults in this community have a lot to offer," Cygler said. "Unfortunately, the state of the economy has made it increasingly difficult for these students to get practical experience."

Created in partnership with Berkeley College and St. Francis University, the AllCar Street Marketing Team will consist of 12-15 student members. These employees will be tasked with promoting AllCar's various New York City locations at local festivals and events, as well as assisting in day-to-day marketing tasks. "These won't be easy positions, by any means,” Cygler said. “These students will be an integral part of our marketing department."

According to New York City Councilman, Lew Fidler, initiatives like the AllCar Street Marketing Team help to enable the unemployment rate to keep dropping, "I applaud AllCar for creating these summer jobs. AllCar has always shown itself to be a community spirited company and putting kids to work during the summer is just the kind of thing our community needs more of."

In the past year, AllCar Rent-A-Car has opened two new locations, the most recent in the heart of Harlem. Locally owned and operated, AllCar's locations are managed and staffed by members of the community in which they're housed.

You can catch the AllCar Street Marketing Team at Brooklyn Cyclones games as well as various Rooftop Film events this summer. For more information on future Street Team appearances, please contact AllCar Rent-A-Car at 1-800-697-2227 or online http://www.allcarrentacar.com.
