Alpha Car Hire, an Australian-based car rental company, is participating for the second consecutive year in a charity event put on by Variety, a children's charity, through its "Shop & Swap" event.

In order to both raise money for Variety and allow the attendees to benefit from the event, guests can bring five items of clothing and swap them out for a new outfit — granted that the quality of the clothing is an equal trade. Clothing from different eras will be available for all guests to participate.

Alpha is part of the annual XXX Gold Variety Bash, a 10-day trek across Australia featuring restored vehicles, to raise money for sick, disadvantaged or special-needs youth in Australia.

Tickets are available for $49 and all proceeds will go toward Variety in order to help meet Alpha’s goal of donating $100,000 to the charity. Attendees have the chance to win a seven-night holiday that includes an SUV rental with Alpha Car Hire.

“We chose to do Swap & Shop as we thought it was a unique concept,” said Ivana Nikolic, Alpha Car Hire spokesperson. “Not only will it generate donations for Variety and make people feel great about themselves for helping the children in their local community, but the attendees will also get something in turn for the donation.”

The Shop & Swap fundraiser will take place on July 14 at 11 a.m. at the Princess Theatre in South Brisbane, Australia.
