Avis Car Rental announced the celebration of operating in the Bahamas for more than 50 years.
In 1938, J.V. "Skip" Roberts opened "Skip's U Drive It," which operated under various names until signing officially with Avis in 1961.
"Avis Bahamas has been a reliable source for rental cars in the Bahamas for decades," said Patric Siniscalchi, president, Asia-Pacific/Latin America & Caribbean, Avis Budget Group. "Jim Roberts and his team have been an excellent representative for the Avis brand, and I'm happy to congratulate them on achieving this milestone."
Under the leadership of President & CEO Jim Roberts, son of the late founder, Avis Bahamas remains the largest car rental company in the country, says the company. Operating from four locations on Grand Bahama and Nassau/Paradise Island, Avis has 35 employees and a fleet of 250 vehicles, which include popular models by Kia, Toyota, Suzuki and Hyundai.
"When my father began renting cars in 1938, he knew that the one thing that would set him apart — and allow the business to thrive — was a focus on the customer," said Roberts. "That tradition continues to this day. Our staff go out of their way to ensure that the rental experience is the best possible. Our team will show you why Avis is second to none."
