Avis Group Holdings on Jan. 30 reported results for the fourth quarter and full year 2000 and stated that it expects the Cendant Acquisition to close March 1. Avis Group's consolidated net income and diluted earnings per share for the three months that ended Dec. 31, 2000 were $15.3 million and 32 cents, respectively, compared to $10.7 million and 20 cents, respectively, for the same period in 1999. The fourth quarter 2000 diluted earnings per share represents a 60% increase over the same period in 1999.
