Car Rental Fees Rise to $2 a Day at Boston Airport
Effective Dec. 1, renters at Logan International Airport with pay a $6 a day fee to help pay for a $337 million car rental facility.
Starting Dec. 1, those planning to rent vehicles at Boston’s Logan International Airport will now pay $2 more a day, thanks to a fee hike approved by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) board Oct. 27, according to The Boston Globe. The fee will help pay for a consolidated rental car facility.
The new $6 a day fee will help pay for the $337 million, four-story, 1.4 million square-foot building. It will house eight rental car companies that serve the airport.
Since last December, renters had to pay a $4 fee when renting vehicles from the airport.
Additionally, Massport plans to use a $114 million federal loan to help fund the plan, which, in addition to the structure will feature a new unified shuttle bus system to be used by all rental car agencies. The 28, 60-foot-long buses will be either have a hybrid electric/low-sulfur diesel engine, or be powered by compressed natural gas.
