car2go black Offers Car Sharing with Mercedes
Through the car2go black car-sharing service operated by Daimler Mobility Services, 200 black Mercedes-Benz B-Class models will be available to rent in the German cities of Hamburg and Berlin.
Under the car2go black brand, Daimler Mobility Services GmbH — a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Financial Services AG — has announced plans to launch a car-sharing system using Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the German cities of Hamburg and Berlin.
A network of 200 black B-Class models — a diesel vehicle with 7G-Tronic automatic transmission, a navigation system and heated leather seats — will be available for rental from reserved parking stations for select members in the initial pilot phase, according to the company.
car2go black, a smartphone-based car-sharing service, allows members to locate a vehicle and schedule a rental from their smartphones. At the time of pick-up, members enter their car2go PIN code and vehicle PIN code into the app. In addition, payments can also be completed using the car2go black app.
“With car2go, we have revolutionized urban mobility,” said Robert Henrich, head of Daimler Mobility Services GmbH. “With car2go black, we are now offering car-sharing with Mercedes-Benz vehicles. We will thus be addressing a wider range of customers and enabling long-distance travel.”
By the spring, car2go black will expand to include all car2go members and new customers. Initially, 100 Mercedes vehicles will be available to certain car2go members in Berlin and Hamburg.
