With car2go’s year-long pilot ending in Columbus, Ohio, the city has introduced new regulations for the car-sharing company to continue its service, according to a report by The Columbus Dispatch. The new rules went into effect on Oct. 31.

Under the new rules, car2go must purchase $150 parking permits — an increase of more than $50 compared to last year, says the report. car2go spent $52,500 on parking permits for 350 vehicles. And there is a cap on the number of car2go vehicles that can be parked in Columbus.

Additionally, car2go is required to deposit $75,000 in a city account to be used for meter payments. The city will use $15,000 from car2go’s fees to fund transportation projects, according to the report.

Car2go has increased its network in central Ohio to 16,000 members and expanded into five new areas since its launch in Columbus last year, says the report.
