Car2go plans to add 625 smart fortwo vehicles to its Vancouver fleet by the end of September, according to a report by Metro Canada. This will double its Vancouver fleet to 1,250 vehicles, making it car2go’s largest fleet in the world.
The expansion is in response to more than 89,000 local members using car2go’s carsharing service, according to the report.

“The population here in Vancouver is very dense, which makes our service ideal,” Dacyl Armendariz, car2go communications manager, told Metro Canada. “You’ve also got really good public transportation, so car2go is a nice complement to that if you’ve taken the bus somewhere.”
Car2go didn’t require approval from the city of Vancouver to expand its fleet, but it does pay a permit fee per vehicle, according to the report.
