car2go Introduces Car Sharing in Denver
Denver is the 10th U.S. city that will offer car2go’s car-sharing services.
car2go North America LLC, a worldwide car-sharing company and wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler North America, will launch its point-to-point car-sharing model in Denver on June 8. Denver will be the 10th North American city added to car2go's roster.
Introducing a network of 300 car2go edition smart fortwo vehicles, they will be available for shared use in the metropolitan Denver area, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
For each city car2go enters, a designated Home Area, indicating where car2go service is available, is established, which encompasses the major attractions and neighborhoods for that market. For example, Denver’s Home Area covers 42 square miles, including popular neighborhoods such as the Highlands and Capitol Hill, the University of Denver, and easy access to local sites like the Botanic Gardens and Coors Field.
"Denver is thrilled to welcome car2go and point-to-point car sharing to Denver," said Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock. "Walk, bike or ride, Denver is becoming a more multi-modal city every day. Thanks to the efforts of Denver Public Works and car-share providers like car2go, we're providing our residents more multi-modal transportation options every day – further elevating Denver's reputation as a smart, livable city."
"car2go is changing the way people move around cities,” said Nicholas Cole, president and CEO of car2go North America. “car2go has been a proven success in 19 cities around the world, and we look forward to bringing this new form of transportation to the City of Denver."
For a limited time, all new members who use the promotion code “ROCKIES” will receive 30 free minutes of driving time, and currently the one-time $35 membership fee is being waived. For more information, please visit Denver.car2go.com.
