The Daily Breeze reported car2go will suspend its car-sharing service in the South Bay. The company launched in the region last June and will suspend operations at the end of May, according to the article.
Car2go operates in El Segundo, Hermosa Beach, Redondo Beach, Lomita, the west half of Torrance and part of Hawthorne, but the home area is the smallest in North America with 115 cars available for about 4,000 members across 28 miles, the article reported.
Car2go plans to come back to the region with a larger network for members who want to travel outside the South Bay. Car2go North American President and CEO Paul DeLong told the Daily Breeze the company aims to persuade the cities of Los Angeles and Long Beach to approve the program in order to do so.
