car2go To Begin Car Sharing Operations in Seattle
The car sharing service will operate a fleet of 330 smart fortwo vehicles in Seattle beginning Dec. 19.
car2go will expand its services to Seattle with a fleet of 330 smart fortwo vehicles available for use in the city beginning Dec. 19.
Registration opened online on Dec. 6 and the membership fee will be waived for new members who sign up using the promotion code SOUND. New members will also be credited 30 minutes of free driving.
The vehicles will be available for members to use without a reservation allowing them to pay by the minute. Discounted rates are also offered for hourly and daily use. Parking, gas, insurance and maintenance are included in the rates.
Using a smartphone app, members will be able to locate a vehicle and then use their membership cards to unlock and lock vehicles.
“car2go is a great complement to existing public transportation; it has been a proven success in 17 cities around the world, and we look forward to bringing this new form of transportation to the city of Seattle,” said Nicholas Cole, president and CEO of car2go North America.
