According to KLTV, a 1-year-old boy found a gun in the backseat of a rental car that was picked up from an Enterprise in Longview, Texas.
Jaymie Bates and her son, Matthew, returned the vehicle to Enterprise and the manager contacted the police.
After picking up a rental from the Enterprise office in Longview, Texas, Jaymie Bates found her 1-year-old son playing with a gun that was left behind in the car.
According to KLTV, a 1-year-old boy found a gun in the backseat of a rental car that was picked up from an Enterprise in Longview, Texas.
Jaymie Bates and her son, Matthew, returned the vehicle to Enterprise and the manager contacted the police.
According to the police report, the Enterprise manager told officers he also found a gun in a different car on the lot. The Longview Police will hold on to the guns until the people who mistakenly left them behind in the rental vehicles can be verified as the gun owners.
Enterprise released a statement in an email that said, "The safety of our customers is our top priority. On return of each vehicle, our procedure is to clean everything including checking under seats, in the glove compartment, in the center console and in door compartments. We are investigating what went wrong in this particular case, and we will revisit with all of our service agents the proper procedures to make sure this doesn't' happen again."
