China’s Alipay App Adds Car Rental Option

Chinese e-commerce company Alibaba has added the ability to purchase car rentals while using its Alipay electronic payment service, according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.
Alipay is a mobile payment tool that allows smartphone users to pay for various services. Renting a car is the newest services added to the Alipay Wallet app, says the report.
The Alipay electronic payment service offers rentals starting at $2.45 (or 15 yuan) per hour, says the report.
Zhejiang Ant Small and Micro Financial Services Group, Alibaba’s financial affiliate that owns Alipay, has recently launched the car rental service app in Hangzhou, says the report. Jointly offered by Alipay and the Chinese car rental company Hangzhou Che Lizi, there are plans to expand the app to Beijing and Shanghai.
