DALLAS -- Car rental operators in Dallas County have begun organizing a campaign against a proposed tax hike intended to help fund a new stadium for the Dallas Cowboys. Spearheading the anti-tax effort is Dave Capps of Capps Van & Car Rental.
Earlier this month, the Texas Senate overwhelmingly passed a bill that would raise Dallas County car rental tax limits to 6% in order to help finance a $650 million stadium for the Cowboys. Last week, a House panel voted 6-0 to send the bill to the full House for debate. If passed, the bill would set the stage for a public vote on proposed rental car and hotel tax hikes to finance the stadium.
