TULSA, Okla. –- Dollar Thrifty Automotive Group, Inc. reported record total fourth-quarter revenue of $355.2 million for 2005, up 1.7% from the same period in 2004. Net income for the fourth quarter 2005 was $5.6 million, compared to a net income of just $1.4 million the previous year.

The year ended Dec. 31, 2005, saw a record $1.5 billion in total revenue, a 6.9% jump from 2004. For the year, DTAG’s net income was $58.4 million, compared to $50.8 million the year prior.

The fourth-quarter revenue saw a 3% increase in rental days combined with a 0.7% jump in revenue per day, resulting in a 3.7% increase in vehicle rental revenue. Due to franchisee acquisitions, vehicle-leasing revenue dropped as fewer vehicles were leased to franchisees. That number was partially offset by high lease rates.
