Eco-Friendly Car-Sharing Program Expands in UK’s Lake District
Thanks to the partnership of GoLakes Travel and car-sharing company Co-Wheels, a “pay as you drive” eco-friendly car-sharing program has expanded in the U.K.’s Lake District.
A newly extended fleet of electric and low-emission rental cars is now available in the U.K.’s Lake District — thanks to the partnership of GoLakes Travel and car-sharing company Co-Wheels.
The eco-friendly “pay as you drive” vehicles can be rented by the hour from six locations across the South and Central Lakes. These vehicles include the Volkswagen Up, Mini Clubman, Renault Twizy, Peugeot 307 and Renault Kangoo eVan.
“Both the electric cars and our very low-emission vehicles are really handy for anyone who wants to explore the parts of the central Lake District beyond the reach of buses and boats,” says Alistair Kirkbride, sustainable transport adviser for the GoLakes Travel Program. “It’s easy to sign up, and it really is then turn up and go, and pay only for what you use.”
