The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Foundation is helping the Arbor Day Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service by providing the funds to plant 7 million trees in 2012, the company announced April 26.
The effort is part of the Enterprise 50 Million Tree Pledge to plant trees in the U.S., Canada and United Kingdom.
The 50 Million Tree Pledge began in 2006 with a $50 million commitment by Enterprise to plant 50 million trees over 50 years.
Every year, Enterprise works with the Arbor Day Foundation and the U.S. Forest Service to identify planting projects that will address reforestation needs, helping protect water resources and improve forests damaged by wildfires and invasive insects.
This year marks the first time there will be newly planted trees in state forests, though 6 million trees planted through the program’s first six years are growing in forests across Alabama, California, Colorado, Idaho, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Oregon, South Dakota, Canada, Germany, the U.K. and Scotland.
The full list of planting projects for 2012 can be viewed here.
