Enterprise Finds a New Way to Move Its Vehicles
New system will find the best deals among bidding carriers to move the fleet of vehicles around the country.
Enterprise Holdings will work with a new company to hold online auctions that match shippers with truckers who will move Enterprise’s fleet of vehicles around the country, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.
Vehicle Logistics Execution of St. Louis, which launched in January, will provide Enterprise Holdings with its AutoTransMart to find the best deals among bidding carriers to move Enterprise’s vehicles. Enterprise Holdings includes the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands. Vehicle Logistics Execution is owned jointly by Business Integration Technology Inc., and JMN Logistics Inc. Both companies are based in St. Louis.
Vehicle Logistics Execution President Fred Domke said his company charges a $20 match fee to pair shippers with vetted carriers. By using AutoTransMart’s double-blind auction and competitive bidding, Enterprise can expect to save 30 percent on moving costs, Domke added.
For each move, Enterprise typically needs to transport six to 10 vehicles about 500 to 1,000 miles, which usually costs $2,000 to $5,000, Domke said.
