Enterprise Rent-A-Car, the car rental partner of the Drive Electric Orlando program, has added 14 Chevrolet Volts to the all-electric fleet. The Drive Electric Orlando program allows customers to experience “extended test drives” of the electric plug-in vehicles.

The announcement was made during National Drive Electric Week, which raises awareness and support for electric vehicles.

“We know that the car rental experience is often an extended test drive, so we are committed to offering our customers exposure to the latest vehicle technologies,” said Nathan Prior, director of Business Rental Sales for Enterprise in Orlando. “Growing our fleet of electric vehicles in Orlando marks the next level of our support for Drive Electric Orlando’s mission to promote the adoption of EVs.”

Drive Electric Orlando works with the City of Orlando, Orange County, travel companies, the major theme parks and over 35 hotels to provide charging infrastructure for the electric vehicle renters — as well as benefits like free charging and parking.

The program has more than 300 plug-in places available for Drive Electric customers in the Orlando area, according to the Electrification Coalition, which is leading the Drive Electric Orlando effort.

“The Drive Electric Orlando initiative is an opportunity for visitors to experience something fun and new, while also skipping the gas lines and reducing their environmental impact,” said George Aguel, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. “Visit Orlando is pleased to join efforts with our official partner Enterprise Rent-A-Car and our local hotels and attractions to support this industry-leading movement.”

Customers can rent the Chevrolet Volt at Enterprise Rent-A-Car’s location at the Orlando International Airport.

“Chevrolet is looking forward to having the Volt participate in Drive Electric Orlando,” said Britta Gross, GM’s director of advanced vehicle commercialization policy. “This hands-on approach of putting consumers in the driver’s seat of an electric car is a great way for many to experience the joy — and smart cost savings — of driving electric!”

Drive Electric Orlando expects to add more Volts in the future. For more information, visit www.driveelectricorlando.com.
