The Enterprise Holdings Foundation has donated $250,000 to the Fisher House Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides free or no-cost lodging to the families of veterans receiving treatment at military medical centers. This donation will be used for the operations and addition of comfort homes on the grounds of major military and Veteran’s Affairs (VA) medical centers, says Enterprise.

“Supporting military members and their families has been a part of our company’s DNA since it was founded more than five decades ago,” said Carolyn Kindle, vice president and executive director of the Enterprise Holdings Foundation. “Our contribution to Fisher House is just one way for us to thank our nation’s heroes. We’ll continue to reach out to the military community by providing high-level services to military agencies, volunteering our time and enlisting ex-service members and reservists to join our ranks.”

Enterprise Holdings has been recognized for its ongoing support of veterans and reservists — former service members currently make up nearly 10% of the company’s total U.S. work force. And last year, more than 1,600 military veterans and reservists launched new careers with Enterprise Holdings, according to the company.

“This generous donation from the Enterprise Holdings Foundation will help many families to be close to their hospitalized service members at a very stressful time,” said Dave Coker, president of the Fisher House Foundation. “Enterprise, like Fisher House, is an organization that clearly understands the importance of assisting our military veterans and reservists after they return home. We’re very thankful for their support of our organization.”
