Europcar Group has announced the acquisition of Bluemove, a mobility tech startup and carsharing service in Spain.
This acquisition was done through Ubeeqo, the mobility startup in which Europcar took a majority share in January 2015. This was part of Europcar’s strategy to extend its mobility offering.
Bluemove is a Spanish tech company in the carsharing market. Established in Spain in 2011, it currently operates in the cities of Madrid, Seville, and Malaga and is planning to launch soon in Barcelona and Valencia.
This acquisition will allow Europcar Group to further accelerate the development of carsharing through Ubeeqo, according to the company. Ubeeqo is currently operating in three European countries — France, U.K., and Belgium — and will soon open in Germany and Spain (through Bluemove).
“We are pleased of this acquisition that strengthens with Ubeeqo our leadership on the mobility markets and allows us to attract and address new customers,” said Philippe Germond, chairman of the Europcar Group Management Board. “Together, we are going to simplify customers’ lives by providing them with solutions that adapt seamlessly to their usage patterns and mobility needs. …”
