The coronavirus pandemic has impacted most countries in the world. Car rental agencies like Europcar have become essential services during these uncertain times.

While experts have said that social distancing can help to stop this pandemic, activities like food shopping and moving between cities to solve issues that cannot be postponed, are still necessary. And for many, renting a car is required in order to undertake essential activities.

“These are the advantages of car rental during the coronavirus or Covid-19 pandemic in Mexico," Europcar Mexico CEO Antonio Llinas Oñate said in a statement.

1. Special Rates

During the quarantine period, Europcar Mexico is offering low rates as a special benefit to support the economy. Moving by car is much easier and more comfortable than using public transport, which can being risky because of the crowded spaces, Llinas said.

2. Free Home Delivery

Since it's safer for people not to leave home, Europcar has launched home delivery of cars. Starting at 195 pesos per day, Europcar staff will not only deliver the vehicle, but will pick it up at the end of the rental. This service is limited to a certain distance range from the location of the office where the vehicle is rented, so it is necessary to request this benefit from the office.

3. Safe Mobility Alternative

Llinas said that when renting from Europcar, customers can move safely without the risk of becoming infecting by coronavirus using the car. Although it is a rental car, Europcar disinfects all cars after each service.

“To clean our cars we have developed a new cleaning protocol," Llinas said. "In addition to normal cleaning, we have paid special attention to 41 areas of the vehicle to ensure an impeccable car and reduce the risk of contagion in cities.”

4. Free Change of Dates

The coronavirus has forced many to change the dates of their trips. Therefore, Europcar Mexico has implemented a policy of free date changes, so customers can reschedule their reservation as many times as needed without any penalty.

5. Zero Contact

The implementation of online check-in and signing a digital contract at the beginning of 2020 means customers can avoid lines and be in reduced contact with staff. Both processes can be carried out directly from a cell phone.
