The Hawaii State Department of Transportation has started the bidding process for constructing Honolulu International Airport’s consolidated car rental facility, according to a report by the Pacific Business News.
The work includes demolition of the existing car rental buildings and the construction of a new five-story car rental facility. The new facility is expected to have 2,250 parking stalls, compared to 895 stalls at the old facility, says the report.
Construction is part of Honolulu Airport’s $2.7 billion airport modernization project. The car rental facility is expected to cost $330 million and be completed by June 2020, says the report.
Bids need to be turned into the Department of Transportation by March 17 at 2 p.m., according to the report.
