The Hertz Corp. has signed partnerships with two English universities to provide its Hertz 24/7 services on the campuses.

Staff members and students at Oxford Brookes University and Imperial College London are now able to rent low emission and electric cars from Hertz by the hour. Hertz 24/7 vehicles will be available for staff use during working hours, with availability for students and private requirements during evenings, weekends and holidays.

The Hertz 24/7 fleet for the Oxford Brookes University’s car club includes low emission Ford Fiestas and an all-electric Mitsubishi IMiEV. For Imperial College London, Hertz’s fleet includes a Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi, an automatic Kia Rio, an all-electric Mitsubishi IMiEV and a VW Golf BlueMotion 1.6 TDCi.

"We are delighted to collaborate with Oxford Brookes University to provide the convenience and environmental benefits of Hertz 24/7 to staff and students alike,” said Michel Taride, group president, Hertz International. “The technology-enhanced Hertz 24/7 pool fleet for the university's car club will help ease local congestion through shared vehicle use, while providing an alternative to driving a privately-owned car."

“With its low emission and electric vehicles, Hertz 24/7 is a popular option for organizations looking to reduce both travel costs and CO2 emissions, and it's a pleasure to welcome Imperial College to the scheme," added Taride.

Students and staff can easily book the vehicles online, by phone or by using iPhone or Android apps. RFID technology allows keyless entry to any vehicle in the fleet, says Hertz.
