Hertz on Demand and MoveAbout to Provide EVs to Companies in Germany
Hertz on Demand and MoveAbout have partnered to provide electric vehicle car-sharing services to corporations, utilities and municipalities in Germany.
The Hertz Corp. announced the launch of the Hertz on Demand/MoveAbout partnership, aimed at providing electric vehicle (EV) car-sharing services to corporations, utilities and municipalities in Germany, according to a Feb. 27 company press release.
“Hertz believes that electric cars and mobility-on-demand services go hand-in-hand as the public and private sectors develop new and sustainable travel solutions,” said Michel Taride, president of Hertz International and executive vice president, Hertz Corp. “Partnering with a pioneer such as MoveAbout complements both our Hertz on Demand car sharing strategy and Global EV mobility platform.”
Upon enrolling in the service, members receive a smart chip-enabled membership card, which gives them keyless entry to vehicles, as well as a hands-free audio kit to reach customer service while in the car. In-car technology also enables locking and locating functions in addition to iPod connectivity.
Through the partnership, organizations can pool dedicated EVs placed on site. Shared cars can be used for professional purposes and for personal usage as well, as businesses can give employees a money-saving perk by offering Hertz on Demand cars at work.
Hertz on Demand and MoveAbout have plans to further explore European market opportunities together.
