The car rental company recently set up shop at the Fremont BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) Station in the San Francisco area. The new program will give commuters the opportunity to use car-sharing rental services for a monthly fee.
The idea of the project is for two separate users to operate just one car. One user drives the car from the BART Station to work and back, and the other user drives it between home and the BART Station. This allows one parking space to serve two patrons, and possibly, negate the need for some families to purchase a second car. The program, besides its economical advantages, is also environmentally friendly.
The price for both types of users is about $400 per month, which includes guaranteed parking at the station, cleaning, servicing and maintenance of the car, and fuel for up to 1,000 miles per month.
There are currently 21 parking spaces set aside for car-sharing subscribers. Hertz will also be renting cars in the traditional manner from the Fremont BART Station.
