The Hertz Corporation and its car and equipment rental units plan to expand throughout 2010 with approximately 150 off airport car rental locations and 10 equipment rental locations opening throughout the year.

The openings are part of Hertz’s strategy to continue expanding in the car rental off-airport market, while the equipment rental expansion is part of Hertz’s strategy to tap into those markets emerging from the recession as well as to provide onsite support to key industries, such as the petro-chemical industry.

"We're optimistic that the economy will continue to stabilize in 2010," commented Mark P. Frissora, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for The Hertz Corporation. "With these strategic openings, in both the car and equipment rental markets, our goal is to be properly positioned so that we will be able to capitalize upon these key markets once the economy begins to rebound."

The car rental expansion confirms Hertz' commitment to serving customers seeking to rent cars for insurance replacement, business trips, vacations and everyday purposes. Serving the insurance replacement industry for almost 10 years, Hertz currently has more than 1,600 off-airport locations that reach customers in the top 50 metropolitan areas and is a recognized supplier to more than 193 of the 209 largest insurance companies.

Hertz Local Edition provides customers with a full range of rental vehicles, including compact through full-size cars and SUVs, and Hertz No. 1 Club Gold counter service. The majority of Hertz Local Edition locations offer pickup and drop-off service and insurance replacement rentals.

In addition to taking advantage of worldwide geographical opportunities, Hertz Equipment Rental is expanding services as well. In select locations, customers now have the ability to rent cars and trucks through Hertz Local Edition.

Hertz Equipment Rental maintains a fleet of late model construction and industrial equipment air compressors and tools, earthmoving equipment, forklifts and material handling equipment, pumps, as well as trucks and trailers. Hertz also rents small tools, equipment and contractors' supplies. With approximately 250 locations in the U.S. and Canada, Hertz Equipment Rental offers daily, weekly, monthly and long-term rentals, tools and supplies, as well as new and used equipment for sale.
