How to Combat Identity Thieves
The 2014 Car Rental Show will address this issue in a seminar presented by a detective who has solved numerous cases involving car rental fraud.
Law enforcement authorities say rental car fraud is on the rise, and thieves are using increasingly sophisticated methods to steal rental vehicles.
The 2014 Car Rental Show will address this issue in the seminar “How to Combat Credit Card Fraud and Identity Thieves,” presented by Kraig Palmer, a California Highway Patrol detective and member of the Orange County, Calif., Auto Theft Task Force (OCATT).
Palmer will use actual case histories to show car rental companies ways to spot potential fraud and protect themselves from increasingly sophisticated crime tactics.
Palmer has investigated and solved numerous cases of car rental-related identity fraud. Palmer’s team successfully took down a 27-member crime ring that used fake credit cards and stolen drivers’ licenses to steal 42 rental vehicles in 2012.
“This will be great insider information,” says Chris Brown, executive editor of Auto Rental News. “Detective Palmer was on the inside of one of the biggest car rental crime busts in years, and we’re grateful to have him share his insights, which will provide specific take-home value.”
This seminar will take place on Tuesday April 8 at 9:40 a.m. The 2014 Car Rental Show convenes April 7-8 at the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Visit www.carrentalshow.com for more information.
