Introducing an Online Glossary of Car Rental Terms
Car Rental Gateway’s online glossary of 177 entries aims to answer the who, what, and why of car rental and mobility.

While the idea of a sector-specific glossary is not unique, Car Rental Gateway’s site aims to constantly update with new terminology and consider the viewpoints of multiple stakeholders, the company said.

Ever wonder what cross-bordering or bCall means? Do you have new staff that might need a resource on car rental terms, or do you need to brush up on the new terms yourself?
Car Rental Gateway, a platform for car rental distribution services, has an online glossary to help new and old car rental operators and suppliers understand car rental-specific terms along with those related to the newest trends in the mobility industry, such as ride-hailing platform, bCall, and Phone-as-a-Key (PaaK).
The Car Rental Glossary and Terminology has been up and running for a year and now has 177 entries with over 500 users a week.
“At first, it took off as an internal glossary in 2019 with an initial idea to help new employees during their onboarding,” says Indrek Uibo, CEO of Car Rental Gateway. “We saw how it helped our employees comprehend the products we are developing and understand the industry in which we are operating. This made us realize that we should not keep it to ourselves.”
The idea of the glossary, Uibo said, is to move towards common understanding and transparency, to speak to customers in a unified language, and thus offer services that correspond to their needs and expectations.
While the idea of a sector-specific glossary is not unique, Car Rental Gateway’s site aims to constantly update with new terminology and consider the viewpoints of multiple stakeholders, the company said.
