Hyundai’s carsharing venture, Mocean, announced it will be ending service at the end of 2021, according to an email the company sent on Nov. 22.
The final day members can take a carshare trip is Dec. 27. Parent company MoceanLab will continue working on mobility initiatives, the organization wrote.
"We extend our sincere thanks for your support, and we hope to partner with you on a future MoceanLab mobility initiative," the organization's website mesage reads.
Mocean Carshare announced its launch in January 2020 with technology powered by French carsharer Vulog. The service termination comes as Mocean seemed to be in expansion mode, with service expanding to LA's Westside in April of this year and the San Fernando Valley in August.
LA-Based Mocean Carshare Ends Service
The Hyundai-backed carsharing firm shutters abruptly after recent expansions into the San Fernando Valley and Westside of Los Angeles.

Vulog CEO Gregory Ducongé announced its involvement in Mocean's technology in 2019 just before the company launched.
