According to The Union Advocate, 162 workers at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport will be joining union Teamsters Local 120. The employees of GCA Services Group, which provides rental car companies with services such as shuttling, cleaning and detailing of vehicles, voted in a 3-1 margin approving joining the union.
According to the article, workers have complained of not getting promises made upon initial hiring, such as benefits outlined in the employee handbook. Workers waited for 18 months for GCA Services Group to respond, and began organizing in January, the article states. The new members said they are looking forward to negotiating a new contract.
