Through a new mobile booking site set up to accommodate customers who prefer to research and book rental cars online, Avis customers in the United Kingdom can search for car rental quotes and make a reservation via mobile phones through a new mobile website, according to Travolution.

The new site includes branch search, calendar view, pricing, service details, quick checkout, and reservation checking and modifying.

The replica of the main Avis website has been optimized to suit the dimensions of small screens and simplified to allow a fast and easy booking experience, according to Avis.

Avis said mobile bookings are expected to see a big increase in 2012. Before the release of this mobile site, only iPhone users had access to Avis UK, in which 1% of direct bookings for Avis came through Avis’ iPhone application in 2011, and Avis expects that to grow to 5% in 2012.
