New Texas toll roads with no cash-only lanes are confusing some rental car drivers and causing them to incur fines. People from out of town, not familiar with the area are being charged more for toll fees when administration costs and surcharges are added to their overall rental car bills, KLJB News Radio 590 AM .

With four new toll roads in the Austin, Texas area, AAA-Texas warns visitors of central Texas to pay close attention to where they drive.

State law requires people driving on state-operated highways to pay at each toll gantry. If a driver passes through without paying, it is a misdemeanor violation.

Drivers will find no way to pay cash for their trip. However, CTRMA has a contract in effect with Cedar Park Police (within their city limits) to ticket drivers who have no TxTag. An officer can sometimes be seen monitoring the overhead TxTag antenna and flashing light near the Park Street overpass and could then pull-over a violator.
