North Carolina Airport Considers Rental Car Fee
North Carolina’s New Bern Airport is considering charging car rental customers a new fee to help pay for improvements at the airport.
North Carolina’s Coastal Carolina Regional Airport is considering charging car rental customers a new fee to help pay for improvements at the airport, according to a report by ABC 12. The idea was presented to the airport authority board but hasn’t been voted on yet.
The customer facility charge would be collected by on-airport rental companies. The money would be used to create an on-site facility to service rental cars at the airport, according to the report.
Currently, the rental cars are serviced off site, which can lead to longer wait times for customers, Andrew Shorter, airport director, told ABC 12. The on-airport rental companies include Hertz, National Car Rental, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Budget Rent A Car, Avis Car Rental, and Alamo Rent A Car.
The rental fee would not be permanent; it would be taken away once the project has been completed, according to the report.
