O’Hare Airport to Extend People Mover to Rental Car Facility
The O’Hare Airport announced plans to extend its people mover system to reach a new building that will be shared by rental car companies and a public parking garage.
According to Chicago Sun Times, O’Hare Airport announced Oct. 25 that its 2.7-mile people mover system will be extended 2,000 feet to a rental car campus and parking garage.
Aviation Commissioner Rosemarie Andolino said the cost of extension will be $340 million and the combined cost of the extension and rental car campus is expected to be $700 million. The $8 fee of renting a car at O’Hare that was introduced in 2010 will help cover both projects.
The extension is expected to be completed in 2016.
