As part of an expanded agreement with parent company Avis Budget Group, AARP members who choose Payless Car Rental will now receive a free upgrade on compact through full-size car rentals — a 5% discount — and waiver of the additional-driver fee at participating U.S. Payless locations.

Payless Car Rental joins Avis Car Rental, Budget Car Rental and Budget Truck Rental as the latest brand under the Avis Budget Group umbrella to offer discounts to AARP members.

"When we choose our partners, we really look at what value our members want as well as where they want to spend their money," said Clay Buckley, vice president, lifestyle, at AARP Services Inc. "Payless Car Rental provides valuable, hassle-free savings that will help AARP members save on their next trip. They and the entire Avis Budget Group family exemplify the high standard of quality that is important to our members."

According to an AARP analysis, Americans 50 and older are taking more weekend trips — approximately 10 a year — closer to home rather than one long annual vacation farther away. And many are renting a car to do so.

"AARP members love to travel, and we're pleased to help them get to their destination reliably, with a little extra money left in their pockets," said Beth Kinerk, senior vice president of sales at Avis Budget Group. "We're happy to offer Payless Car Rental as another choice for AARP members when they make their next travel arrangements."
