The Virgin Islands Consortium reported U.S. Virgin Islands Senator Jean Forde has proposed a bill to raise taxes on car rentals by adding a community surcharge of $3.75.
Currently, there is already a daily surcharge of $3.75 along with other taxes like a $25 driving permit tax and $3.60 airport concession fee. Several rental car companies in the Virgin Islands are claiming the new tax would cause “lasting damage” to their businesses, according to the article.
