Peer-to-peer carsharing company RelayRides says it has acquired Trinity Ventures and Google Ventures-backed SocialStudio (developers of JumpCam and FADE) to help improve customer acquisition and enhance customer experience.
As part of the acquisition, 12 new employees will join the RelayRides team, including seven engineers.

While the SocialStudio team helps address some immediate needs, we continue to look for additional high-quality talent to join us in turbo-charging our rapidly growing marketplace."
SocialStudio will help RelayRides introduce pricing recommendations for car owners and expand into new geographies and services, according to the company. SocialStudio CEO David Stewart will join RelayRides as vice president of business development.
Launched in March 2012, RelayRides has increased from 45 employees in January 2015 to over 100 employees in August 2015, says the company.
Rental operators can now detect and act on speeding while vehicles are still on rent, thereby reducing fines, admin workload, vehicle wear, and safety risks.
The combination brings actionable vehicle insights into PurCo’s PurInspect platform, improving damage detection and operational efficiency for rental fleets.
LOR related to insurance claims overall continues to trend downward, but ongoing market and economic conditions could affect future results while the industry deals with staffing and productivity challenges.
West Coast disasters pose unique challenges and liabilities for rental fleet operators, who are advised to take steps tailored to their specific situations.
