Seven Cars Missing from Phuket Rental firm
Renters were either arrested or in hiding from police.
Two suspects are in custody but three more are at large after seven rental cars remained missing from a Phuket rental firm, according to the Phuket Gazette.
Sarun Thongularn, 37, and two friends started a car rental business last year. But by the end of the year, seven fleet vehicles were missing, with the renters either arrested or in hiding from the police. The rental company owner suspects the vehicles may have been fraudulently sold.
The eight cars were rented by six different people. Sirirat Engchuan, 24; Detrit Homhuan, 40; Janthip Sae-iad, 28; Teerawat Bunraksa, 45; Wassana Jaroenrit, 49, who was accompanied by Thalerngsri Promrat, 50.
One of the renters, had sent his wife to collect the car, in which she left her motorbike and driver’s license with Sarun. Sarun is now only renting cars to foreigners and asks that they leave their passports with him.
