Sixt Celebrates 100th Anniversary in Munich
‘Sixt Centennial Day’ reflected on the beginnings of the rental car company, its ongoing developments as well as future expansions.
Sixt celebrated its 100th anniversary at its “Sixt Centennial Day” event on Nov. 2
Thousands of management representatives as well as employees from more than 100 countries gathered at the event, hosted by Regine Sixt at Messe München’s International Congress Center.
The event featured a symphony for Sixt by Adrian Werum, documenting Sixt’s worldwide presence musically. World-famous mountain climber Reinhold Messner also performed “Moving Mountains,” a presentation on the story of Sixt.
Sixt was founded by Martin Sixt in Munich in 1912 as “Sixt Autofahrten und Selbstfahrer,” Germany’s first car rental company with only three cars.
Since, Sixt has expanded its services including in the field of car sharing with its joint venture with BMW, DriveNow. Sixt said it plans to expand DriveNow with BMW, and has made its services available for corporate use.
The company said it also plans to expand its car rental operations further into North America.
