Super Bowl Boosts Phoenix Airport Rental Rates
With the help of Jim Tennant of The Tennant Group and Michael Meyer of Rate-Highway, we took a look at recent rental car quotes at the Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport (PHX) to see what effect the Super Bowl crowds had on rates.

Super Bowl Sunday is Feb. 1, and the pickup rates at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport — from the past two weeks — are up $60.98 and $53.93 from last year.
In the 32 weeks from May 16 to Dec. 12, 2014, this year was down from last year by an average of $2.13. Our surveys look at pickup rates for every day from 15 to 21 days out. Starting with the Dec. 19, 2014 rate survey, which pulled rates for pickup from Jan. 3 to Jan. 9, 2015, rates turned up dramatically from the previous year.
The table below provides an excellent picture of how the Super Bowl has affected Phoenix Airport rates.
