Tampa International Airport has delayed the launch of its new consolidated rental car facility, according to a report by the Tampa Bay Business Journal.
It will open to the public in early 2018 instead of this fall as it had intended. Bad weather delayed the nature of the work, says the report.
"Instead of a fourth quarter opening, it will open in the early part of next year," Joe Lopano, the airport's CEO, told the Business Journal.
The $2.6-million-square-foot rental car facility is part of the $1 billion plan for the airport, according to the report. The plan also includes the addition of 69 new concessions.
The new rental facility will house 16 different rental car brands, according to Hillsborough County Aviation Authority. The airport’s new people-mover station will be connected to the new rental car center.
